GD&T Training courses are conducted based on your company’s specific industry and products. Further course customization can be arranged.
The courses we offer vary in length and content. They are designed to suit your requirements in order that each participant obtains a solid understanding of the principles of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and can apply them on the job immediately. Physical demonstrations along with hands on experience by participants add clarity to the theory of GD&T. This is accomplished with numerous model pieces, gauges and inspection equipment. In addition, your company may bring sample parts to the training room along with their corresponding drawings for detailed analysis and group discussions.
Your company has the choice of whether the course should be based on the GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5M-1994 or ASME Y14.5-2009 standard. Typical courses are as follows:
For a more detailed course description, please contact us.
24 Hour Course:
This is the most popular course requested. This course covers all the fundamentals of GD&T and is conducted at your facility. All 14 geometric characteristic symbols are covered including their typical application, proper interpretation and common inspection techniques. Also includes datum selection, calculating datum shift, and the use of fixed (hard) gauges to verify geometric requirements.
16 Hour Course:
This course is the condensed version of the 24-hour course. Less time is spent on completing exercises and group discussions.
27 Hour Course:
This course is for those who want to learn more than just the fundamentals of GD&T. It covers all the topics as listed above plus the more advanced principles of GD&T. This includes an introduction to tolerance stack up calculations and extended principles of tolerance of position.
Other GD&T Training Courses:
Other courses can be customized to suit your company’s needs. This may include courses for company owners, managers and supervisory personnel.
Public GDT Seminar:
This course is for companies that have only 1 or 2 employees requiring the GD&T training and therefore training onsite would not be cost effective. This public 2-day (16-hour) course is offered 3 times a year. For details on the next public seminar, please click here.
Consider an In-House Training Program as compared to an Out-Of-Town Seminar:
- No travel, meals and hotel expenses for each participant
- No travel time away from the job
- Participants can focus and absorb the material presented without the usual distractions of out-of-town seminars
- You choose the time and the days of your in-house program
- Your suppliers can be contacted to attend the training with you
- We discuss your designs, products and inspection capabilities
We also offer a more personalized geometric dimensioning and tolerancing course for 1 to 5 people at the office of 2-B Quality. This allows the instructor and participants to cover the best mix of fundamentals and advanced principles of GD&T as needed to fulfill the learning requirements of this small team.
